The brewery resides in what was once the South Jacksonville Utilities building, an ice factory constructed in 1927 during the heyday of the railroad era. This building, now meticulously restored, stands as a tribute to a bygone era when Hendricks Avenue served as the pulsating heart of South Jacksonville. Fast-forwarding to the present, the Aardwolf Taproom & Brewery now calls this historic ice house its home. After years of passionate renovation and dedicated effort, the brewery officially opened its doors on September 13, 2013.

Aardwolf Brewing Company is the brainchild of two partners, Michael Payne and Preben Olsen. Payne, a seasoned brewmaster, honed his skills at various esteemed establishments, including Georgia's Terrapin Brewing. Meanwhile, Olsen, with his business acumen and passion for craft beer, brought the vision to life. Their collaboration gave birth to an establishment that respects history while embracing innovation. As Aardwolf Brewing Company continues to make its mark on Jacksonville's beer scene, it remains committed to its roots, offering a haven for beer enthusiasts to gather, connect, and enjoy. With an eye on the past and a heart for crafting exceptional brews, Aardwolf invites you to savor both the history and the innovation within its walls.
